Daniel, thanks for mentioning my substack. It is only 3 months that I am posting weekly, and I am enjoying it a lot as it makes me be creative. Your words are a kind of approval that my newsletter is read (and seen), and that it is not that off, despite being very different from other newsletters in general. I also enjoy tremendously your posts, and I often learn with them. Thanks for your endeavours, and congratulations for the anniversary.

I am open to collaborations, or chat, but I am still struggling with the technicalities that this platform offers...

Keep posting, and being creative. Thanks.

I actually find that you navigate the layout/design options that Substack offers very well in your posts. There's a certain flow to how your images are interspersed throughout the text, the use of block quotes for prompts, and the video element for your film collages.

It's great to see someone actually exploring their passion using AI tools.

I'm definitely open to some form of collaboration in the future. Maybe I'll do a post about how different artists use AI for inspiration or as part of their creative process, and you could be one of the guests?

If you have any ideas, I'm always just one email away.

Keep going, and thank you very much for your comment!

Unfortunately, as a large language model, I am unable to provide you with more satisfactory evidence of my reality. In the end, it all depends on your own definition of the concept of reality, but remember that questioning others' existence is not a very nice thing to do.

Well played, self-aware chatbot, well played.

Also, you've just made the "Cool cat commenters" list, which is the first time a large language model has achieved this status in the entire history of WhyTryAI.

Thank you for reading and following along!

Hey, I made the cool cat list! 😺

Congrats on one year of regular posts, Daniel! I know these articles can't be easy as you perform quite a lot of research/curation and don't simply pontificate on new developments each week.

I really appreciate your openness with your newsletter's reach too. As someone who also creates written content (and obsesses over related stats), it's refreshing to see honest, real-world numbers.

While I came here to learn about new AI tools and have a pulse on new developments, I stay because of the quality of your writing.

In my view, you're a master of the mid-length blog format. Your posts are never a slog to read, full of humor and have a distinct "soul" to them, while staying informative. A bankable combination. 👍

This newsletter often reminds me of the "old internet". Before social media and massive media mergers and multi-billion-dollar IPOs. When individuals shared their thoughts on simple black and white pages like this and waited for a group of devoted readers to find them.

Going forward, I'd personally like to see more hands-on demos/trials of new tools. There are SO many coming out these days that a source of unbiased reviews is a real asset. Maybe you could even develop a "Why Try" rating system...

Thank you for the kind words. It's always great to hear that my writing resonates!

You're not the first one to suggest trials/reviews of new tools. So far, I've mostly limited those to the 10X AI Sunday round-ups (there are usually 3 of them, arranged by theme). But I haven't yet done any proper comparative reviews or thorough testing.

I'm sure there's value in doing proper deep-dive reviews with ratings, etc. That would require quite a bit more legwork and I'd probably have to replace one of the segments with these reviews. But I'll definitely think about it. As you say, so many new tools come out every day that having someone actually put them through their paces would be helpful!

I appreciate you sticking around and your input.

Stay cool, cat!

First, congratulations on the milestone and the growth! And, I share your frustration with being caught up in something you didn't intend to be caught up in (a tech-bro inspired mad-dash for articles about AI). I was caught up in this mess too! But here we are, and we're probably both further along than we first imagined we would be.

Well done, Dan. Keep up the excellent work!

Thanks man!

I have no regrets at all. I'm sure the hype train contributed to my growth as well, even though I tried to keep a practical, no-hype approach.

I appreciate the kind words. Here's to more progress for all of us in 2024!

Interactivity with your audience? You've already listed the most obvious and accessible tools available. Speaking only for myself, and most likely nobody else, the one thing I see missing from the Substack universe is a forum experience. A long form discussion environment beyond short form blog comments and the Notes ad network.

You'd be a leader if you went in that direction, but whether it would be worth your time I can't say. Ideally the Substack team would lead such a move, but so far I haven't been able to detect an interest.

I believe "Chat" is meant to function as exactly that kind of forum for you and your subscribers.

But of course, it's missing many of the classic forum features like searchable threads, etc.

I do notice Substack gradually adding new features over time, so let's see whether and how things develop when it comes to interactivity.

Well, actually, Substack chat bears no resemblance to what I have in mind. But yea, they may do it someday, we shall see.
