Neat. Big takeaway: this is a ways off before it'll be useful to me, but the future is happening really quickly. One year since the first attempts is the blink of an eye; within 10 years we'll be able to custom-generate apps with a single utterance.
Legit amazing; have you explored how to make the apps standalone outside the Claude sandbox? You can do that with the mermaid one; can you export the code as a package for the others? Before I left we were working on Powerpoint & Excel having a baby aka a growing effort dedicated to LCNC solutions (low code, no code). The idea was to enable an new generation of 'citizen developers' and here you are. Looks like they are adding AI to the mix just like in Claude
Oh yeah, you can absolutely export all the code. When Claude creates an Artifact, it makes the code first and then renders the React component in the Artifact window. You can easily switch between the two views, so you can simply copy the code out into any third-party app to build further on. In that way, Claude could be great for rapid front-end prototyping, then you can grab that and plug it into a functioning backend/infrastructure, etc.
Very exciting stuff happening in this space, and next on my list is https://www.cursor.com/ - which should actually let you legitimately build full-fledged apps with AI. Allegedly it's even doable for complete noobs like me. So we'll see!

For sure. And I'd say 10 years is a conservative estimate, judging by the exponential progress on this front.
agree! I'm just kind of preparing myself for short term disappointment.
...that's what she should have said.
