5 Best Midjourney Prompts: September 2023 (Logo Edition)
This month, I look at five different Midjourney prompts for logo design inspiration.

It’s the last post of the month, and as is tradition, it is about new Midjourney prompt ideas.
This time, I wanted to focus on something practical: logo design.
Midjourney can’t single-handedly replace the work of a professional graphic designer. Any “logo” you get out of MJ should be considered a work in progress. It’ll still need plenty of post-editing, but you can use it as a solid starting point.
With that in mind, let’s look at five different Midjourney logo prompts you can try.
Midjourney can’t yet generate non-gibberish text, which is why I have chosen to ignore classic logo styles like “lettermark” and “wordmark” for this list. The Midjourney logo prompts below are less focused on the textual elements of the image. (Of course, if you know your way around image editing tools, do give lettermark and wordmark logos a shot - you can always replace the text later.)
As with any short Midjourney prompts, these modifiers can be combined in multiple ways, so I encourage you to experiment.
Note: All sample images are generated using Midjourney Version 5.2.
Prompt #1: Get sophisticated
If your brand needs a touch of elegance, try this.
Midjourney prompt:
[subject], emblem logo
What it does:
Emblem logos hark back to the old days of royal crests and seals. They feature brand-related imagery and text embedded in a geometric shape. Great for giving your brand an air of importance.
Sample images:
Prompt #2: Give your brand a face
This one can help embody your brand’s values and character traits.
Midjourney prompt:
[subject], [animal] mascot logo
What it does:
Picking the right mascot is perhaps the most effective way to communicate your brand’s personality. Try combining your brand’s company type with your chosen animal and watch Midjourney get creative.

Prompt #3: Stick to a clean look
Sometimes, you might want a more minimalist style instead.
Midjourney prompt:
[subject], minimal line logo
What it does:
As you might guess, this Midjourney logo prompt results in images drawn with clean lines and fewer embellishments. This gives your logo an understated, simple feel.

Prompt #4: Try an artistic approach
This works great if you want a less on-the-nose take on your brand.
Midjourney prompt:
[subject], abstract mark logo
What it does:
This makes Midjourney use abstract forms and shapes to represent your brand. This results in less predictable outcomes than the other Midjourney logo prompts, but it’s perfect as a source of unexpected inspiration.

Prompt #5: Play around with colors
Rainbows are striking. See if your logos can get some of that action.
Midjourney prompt:
[subject], gradient logo
What it does:
Gradients are all about complementary colors fading into each other smoothly. This prompt uses the gradient effect to come up with colorful logos that are bound to catch people’s attention.

I always look forward to your Midjourney posts Daniel! This one doesn't disappoint. I do think it is alway pertinent to mention though, that when working with images that might end up being IP (like logos) that AI generated content is not copyright-able in the US currently. (Cue questions and debate about "how much human input is needed") ;)
