5 Best Midjourney Prompts: October 2023
Here's this month's look at cool Midjourney prompt ideas to try.
Happy Thursday, AI anarchists!
I’m still away with the kids for the autumn break, so the round-up of best Midjourney prompts is here early this month.
Rejoice!
(Or don’t, depending on how you feel about these Midjourney prompt posts.)
You know the drill: Below are five new modifiers to include in your MJ prompts.
Enjoy.
Note: All sample images are generated using Midjourney Version 5.2.
Prompt #1: Revisit that “instant camera” look
This one didn’t make the cut for my photography edition, but it’s here now!
Midjourney prompt:
[subject] Polaroid photo
What it does:
Well, it’s, uh, a Polaroid photo. You know? Instant cameras. Only one copy of any given photo. Muted colors. The lot. Here’s what that does in Midjourney:

Prompt #2: Let’s go back further—to the 1950s
Why not make your images…pop? (I had to.)
Midjourney prompt:
[subject] pop art
What it does:
Pop art originally revolved around the inclusion of imagery from popular culture. You’re likely familiar with Andy Warhol’s work that popularized the movement. In Midjourney, this prompt makes your images look like funky colorful posters.

Recast helps you “read more” without reading. Breeze through your read-it-later list by converting your articles into bite-sized audio convos. Don’t have a reading backlog? No problem, you can discover thousands of interesting recasts in the app.
Prompt #3: Ink yourself…virtually
If you need inspiration for your next tattoo or are simply curious to see how something might look like as one, here you go.
Midjourney prompt:
[subject] tattoo design, white background
What it does:
It turns your subject or scene into a tattoo mockup. Adding the “design” qualifier prevents Midjourney from returning a photographic image of an actual tattoo on a person’s arm. The “white background” keeps things clean. You can optionally add “black ink” to guarantee the non-colorful classic look.

Prompt #4: Fold it like you mean it
We’ve done layered paper before, but how about building paper miniatures?
Midjourney prompt:
[subject] Origami
What it does:
Origami is about turning simple sheets of paper into complex creations. But it’s not just for paper cranes. Midjourney can transform pretty much anything into origami art. Bonus: No trees are harmed in the process.

Prompt #5: Make nifty digital decals
Remember the DALL-E 3 demo video where ChatGPT creates a bunch of “sunflower hedgehog” stickers? Midjourney can play that game, too.
Midjourney prompt:
[subject] sticker
What it does:
This prompt converts your subject into a sticker-like image. Midjourney even tends to add the typical white border around the edges of the resulting picture. Who knows, you might even end up printing them?

Over to you…
Have fun testing out these prompts. Remember to try these modifiers with other models like DALL-E 3 or Stable Diffusion. You never know what results you’ll get.

I'm still not using Midjourney with any consistency or regularity, and I haven't in a little while, but of course I generate images every day with other platforms. How much crossover do you think there is between prompt languages?
