5 Best Midjourney Prompts: November 2023 (Subjectless Edition)
Here are this month's Midjourney prompt ideas.
Happy Thursday!
Today’s my birthday.
**Waits for the overpowering celebratory cheers and applause to die down**
This year, it happens to coincide with Thanksgiving, and I expect many of you will have families to see and turkeys to eat.
So instead of deep-diving into a new topic, I’m releasing the November Midjourney prompt list.
Today, I’ll focus on subjectless prompts that work great when combined with nothing but colors, shapes, materials, and so on.
(You can easily add a subject if you wish, often with phenomenal results.)
Have at it!
Note: All sample images are Midjourney Version 5.2.

Prompt #2: Go colorfully abstract
This is great for abstract imagery.
Midjourney prompt:
color field painting, [colors / shapes]
What it does:
Color field paintings are usually made up of a few unbroken dominant colors, where the colors themselves are the main subject of the image.

Prompt #3: Play with trippy illusions
Step into the world of mind-bending visuals.
Midjourney prompt:
[colors / shapes] op art
What it does:
Op art (short for “optical art” and very much not “pop art”) is characterized by artworks that create an illusion of movement, warping patterns, and the like. Classic op art is black and white, but you can easily experiment with colors.

Prompt #4: Find a cool new backdrop
Need some fun backgrounds? Just ask.
Midjourney prompt:
[colors / shapes] geometric background
What it does:
This prompt tends to create neat patterns containing the chosen colors and shapes. You can use these as image backdrops or wallpaper for your desktop.

Prompt #5: Give your desktop a refresh
And speaking of desktop wallpapers…
Midjourney prompt:
[colors / shapes] desktop wallpaper
What it does:
Midjourney must have plenty of desktop wallpapers in its training, so it’s great at using the term to create patterns that work well as desktop backgrounds.
Sample images:
Over to you…
Have fun with these new prompt ideas.
Don’t forget to try them in other text-to-image models like DALL-E 3 or Stable Diffusion.
