5 Best Midjourney Prompts: February 2025 (Video Games)
Prompts that make your images look like in-game scenes.
Howdy, everyone.
The time has come to wrap up the month with the customary Midjourney modifiers.
Today, I want to look at how Midjourney renders video game footage.
I’ve already used “2D platformer” for my Toys & Games edition last July, but there’s more to cover.
My showcase subjects are:
⚓Captain
🐊Crocodile
👹Demon
Let’s go!
Note: I find that “game screenshot” works best for images that look like in-game scenes. You can also try “in-game footage” or “gameplay” if you’re not getting what you want.
Prompt #1: “[subject], first-person shooter game screenshot”
First-person shooters (FPS) range from ancient classics of the last millennium like Wolfenstein 3D and Doom to brand-new fresh takes like—uh—Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and Doom Eternal.
In FPS games, you see the world from the protagonists’ viewpoint as you blast your way through locations filled with enemies. Midjourney’s had plenty of in-game footage to train on, so it can reliably render the FPS look.

Prompt #2: “[subject], 2D fighting game screenshot”
Fighting games range from ancient classics of the last millennium like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter to modern fresh takes like—uh—Mortal Kombat 1 and Street Fighter 6.
Wait, am I the only one who’s having déjà vu here? Weird.
I like adding the “2D” modifier for that old-school feel, and I find that Midjourney is more consistent when you add such visual cues. But you’re welcome to experiment with other styles of fighting games. (I won’t judge you if you’re a Tekken fan.)

Prompt #3: “[subject], real-time strategy game screenshot”
Real-time strategy (RTS) games range from ancient classics of the last millennium like Command & Conquer: Red Alert and Starcraft to modern fresh takes like—uh—Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 and Starcraft II…
…oh, come on, now!
Their hallmarks are top-down views of the battlefield, base-building, and lots of explosions when those bases go BOOM. Midjourney’s especially fond of explosions.

Prompt #4: “[subject], racing game screenshot”
Racing games range from ancie--
Nope, not doing this again. Even though I could.
(Looking at you, The Need for Speed and Need for Speed Unbound.)
For these prompts, you probably want to include vehicle-adjacent subjects, so you don’t end up with a Captain America-inspired car and a croc-on-wheels like below:

Prompt #5: “[subject], point-and-click adventure game screenshot”
Ah, good old point-and-click adventure games.
Sure, the Monkey Island franchise spans from 1990 to 2022, but I won’t be making some kind of a smartass joke about that. I have standards.
Point-and-click adventures typically feature detailed, hand-painted scenes that you explore by pointing and clicking on various objects. Midjourney knows what to do.
